We don’t know if this headline from the Labour Party government is just virtue signaling babble, but it is a sad reminder that climate craziness is still the rage in the UK.
The government’s 7th “carbon reduction budget” proposes an 87% cut in emissions from the use of fossil fuels. Get this: the goal isn’t based on current levels but on a 1990 basis – making the cuts doubly draconian.
About the only plausible way to reach this net zero target would be to…shut down the British economy.
If this sounds like sheer madness, listen to UK energy secretary Ed Miliband, who insists that the ultimate goal is “net zero” by 2050:
As Britain faces the second fossil fuel shock of the decade, the only way to protect family and business finances is to drive for clean homegrown power that we control.”
Well, the Brits still have an estimated 1.5 billion barrels of oil in the North Sea, but who’s counting?
