About Steve Moore
Stephen Moore is a senior economic advisor to President Donald J. Trump on tax, budget, trade and energy policy for the United States. In 2025 Trump called Moore “one of the country’s smartest economic minds.” He and Larry Kudlow drafted the Trump tax bill in 2017 and was recently extended in the Big Beautiful Tax Bill of 2025.
Moore is also a frequent economics contributor to Fox News and CNN.
Moore is also the co-author of Trumponomics: Inside the America First Plan to Revive Our Economy, which details the principles and strategies behind the economic policies of the Trump administration.Beyond his work with President Trump, Moore is an economist, author, and senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation.
He is also a co-founder (with Arthur Laffer, Larry Kudlow and Steve Forbes) of the increasingly influential Committee to Unleash Prosperity – which advises Congress and state lawmakers on economic policies. He is a frequent lecturer to audiences around the world on the U.S. economic and political outlook. Over his career, he has authored six books and contributed regularly to The Wall Street Journal.
From 1999–2004, Moore served as founder and president of the Club for Growth, where he helped build one of the most influential organizations supporting free-market candidates for Congress. From 2005–2014, he was the senior economics writer for The Wall Street Journal editorial page and a member of its editorial board.
Moore’s work has earned him numerous awards and recognitions, including the Ronald Reagan “Great Communicator” Award (2007), the University of Illinois Alumni of the Year Award (2010), and recognition by Worth Magazine as one of the 75 Most Influential People in the World Dealing with Economics and Finance (2018). His book Return to Prosperity was also a finalist for the F.A. Hayek Award for Advancing Economic Understanding.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and a Master of Arts in Economics from George Mason University.
